In and around South Africa relatives and friends of Christiaan Frederick Beyers Naudé [1915-2004] come together on and around 10 May and celebrate in different ways: “Oom Bey” would have turned a hundred years of age this year!
On 10 May people in and around South Africa remember the occasion when twenty-one years ago Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela [1918-2013] was sworn in and assumed office as the first president of democratic new South Africa.
These are two of some significant occasions this year brings to mind. May they long be remembered and keep on inspiring and motivating us to live and strive to grow together with everybody else in a peaceful world.
Nkosi, sikelela!
