Umkhuba omdala wokusongelana nowokukhipha isibhongo uhlobene nesiko elaziwa ngokuthi `uMcimbi kaPhind’ amshaye´, okungathiwa futhi `uMcimbi wePhumalimi´, obizwa kanjalo ngokulandela igama eliphathelene `nokushaya unkatha [ukushaya amathambo; ukubhula]´, okungukuthi “púr | purím” ngolwimi lwesiHebheru.

Lo mcimbi awusiwo owobuJuda ngendabuko njengoba kuhlale kufunisiselwa kanjalo. Izimpande zawo zikwelaseMesophothamya noma kwelasePhereshiya – emazweni abakwaJuda ababequbé kuwo njengengcosana eyayikade ixoshelwé khona emva kwempi, yadingiswa enkathini eyela emakhulwini ayisithupha phambi kwale nkathi esiphila kuyo [~600 ph.Khr.].

AbakwaJuda bawuthola lapho lo mkhuba wokuthi kubhulwe, kushaywe unkatha okuvunyelwana ngawo ngosuku okufeyozwa ngalo isigwebo esisuke sikhishwé yiziphathimandla zombuso odabeni oluthile [njengokuhlasela nokuyobhubhisa]. AbakwaJuda base bewuthatha-ke lo mkhuba, bewuqondanisa nesimo ababekuso, base bephemba-ke lo mcimbi `kaPhind’ amshaye´ osekwathi nemiphakathi yabakwaJuda eyayakhé ePhalestina ezikhathini ezingaphambidlana nokuzalwa kukaJesu, yalemukela, yaliqhuba leli siko. Esahlukweni seshumi nanhlanu eNcwadini yesiBili “uMakhabheya” [2 Makha 15,3-], libizwa khona ngokuthi “uMkhosi kaModikhayi”.

Kwakungubani lowo Modikhayi?  Uphathelene kanjani nokusungulwa kwalo mcimbi?  Kwakwenzé njani?  Kuphi?  Nini?

Ngengxabano ethile phakathi kukaModikhayi noHamani owayeyiSo lombusi nomlawuli ongaphezu kwakhe, wethweswa icala lokwedelela uMhlonishwa, wagwetshwa intambo; kwathiwa akuzukunqunywa yena kuphela-nje, kuzobhujiswa wonke-nje oyiJuda kulelo zwe – kuyophunywa umkhankaso kakhukhulela-ngoqo, kushiywe kuvalwe ngehlahla!  Nakho-ke uEsta, undlunkulu omusha, umJudakazi, ongene ngenkulu inhlanhla esigodlweni, esezwa ngaleso sigwebo; wenza icebo lokuyoshweleza kumyeni wakhe ukuze ophulwe amaJuda kulolo lulaka.  Iqhubeka ithi-ke indaba:

UEsta wasuka wamema inkosi [umyeni wakhe], wamema noHamani, ebenzelé idili elalizothatha izinsuku ezimbili. Kwathi uma emva kosuku lwesibili lwedili, uModikhayi uHamani wanquma ukuthi uModikhayi akanqunywe ngakusasa-nje. Engakakhulumi nanenkosi ngalokho, wayesethé azigxunyekwe izigxobo azokhungwa, anqunyelwe kuzo uModikhayi.

Sekuthi kuselapho nje, inkosi isikhunjuzwa ngezomshoshaphansi eyayikade isongelwe ngawo ngababefuna ukuphekula umbuso, owanqandeka ngokudalulwa kwawo nguModikhayi – inkosi uAhashiveroshi ikhunjuzwa ngabayifundela njengenhlalayenza okulotshwé ngezansukuzonke komkhulu. UAhashiveroshi useyalela uHamani kulokho ukuthi akaklomele uModikhayi, amethwese iminyezane ukuze aziseke, ahlonipheke embusweni wonke.  Khuliyane esikhundleni uModikhayi!

Esekhona lapho-nje uHamani, uEsta usenxusa umyeni wakhe, inkosi, ukuthi iwahlenge amaJuda, angabhujiswa njengoba uHamani ayesenqumé ukuthi abulawe, aqedwe.

Ngethutshana-nje kulokho inkosi isaphumile, uHamani washaya phansi ngedolo, ezincengela kuEsta ukuthi amshwelezele enkosini.

Uma iphinda iqhamuka inkosi, ibona sengathi uHamani ubesezama ukuqilibeza uEsta, ngokusondela amlimaze. Ngokuphazima kweso kwalengiswa uHamani ezigxotsheni okwakukade kuzobulawelwa kuzo uModikhayi, kwaba ukuphela kwakhe lokho.

UEsta wazuza ifa likaHamani, uModikhayi wangena esikhundleni abesiphethwe uHamani esaphila.

Ngokwesifiso sikaEsta, inkosi yalawula, yavumela amaJuda ukuthi ngosuku lweshumi nantathu kuNhlolanja/kuNdasa [13 Adar] akhwele azidilikele kunoma ngubani-nje ozama ukuwachukuluza. Kwavalwa ngehlahla ngalolo lusuku nangakusasa [13/14 Adar] kwelasePhereshiya. Izinkulungwane zezakhamizi eSusa nakulo lonke elasePhereshiya zahlaselwa, zabulawa ngamaJuda. Usuku olulandela lolo [15 Adar] lwamiswa, lwaba usuku lomkhosi; emaphandleni kwakuba ngakusasa kwalolo [16 Adar]. UModikhayi noEsta bafungisa amaJuda ngothi lwawo, bawabophelela ekulugcineni lolo lusuku lomcimbi `wePhumalimi´ [ngolwesiHebheru = purím], `uMcimbi kaPhind’ amshaye´, owawuvelé ngenxa yonkatha [ngolwesiHebheru = púr | purím] owawukade ushayelwé ukuqopha usuku lokuwabhubhisa ngothi lwawo amaJuda kwelasePhereshiya.

Kwabenkolo ngokobuJuda namuhla `uMcimbi kaPhind’ amshaye´ (= `uMcimbi wePhumalimi´, ngolwesiHebheru = púr | purím) umkhosi wentokozo nokwenaba, kujatshulelwa ikakhulukazi ukuthi izitha – njengoHamani emlandweni abaxoxelana ngawo – ziyogcina zibhubhile.  Ezigigabeni eziningi besongelwa, bephunyuka ekubhujisweni, babona ngosuku lwalelo mkhosi ithuba lokuphulukundleliswa nokuhlengwa kulo lonke ulaka nonya olunjalo nangomuso. Ikakhulukazi ofunda ngeso lenkolo yobuKhristu uthola isibonelo kule Ncwadi “uEsta” ukuthi izinsongelo nezihibe kuyenzeka zidaluleke, zinyundeleke, zigcine ziguqukile, zakhomba abasunguli nabashoshozeli bazo. Ukuzimisela nentshisekelo yowesifazane owayekade engomunye wabajwayele ukweyiwa nokubukelwa phansi, yiyona eletha inguquko odabeni olwaseluyobe ngunqamula-juqu kwabaningi.
